What is Curing of Concrete ?
In Layman's Language we can say that curing of concrete is providing water to concrete . But if we consider Technical Aspect side by side then curing of concrete is the most important factor in the process of gaining strength in concrete . If we not provide curing to the concrete then it may be possible that concrete would be stable but it is surely possible that the concrete without curing would be less durable as well as weaker . We Know that Cement only gets activated on adding some particular required percentage of water and from the moment of addition of water the process of initial setting of cement mixed with fine and coarse aggregates starts and after final setting the actual procedure of gaining strength by concrete initializes Their will be a boost in gaining strength as long as we provide curing to the cement.
So, Following are some guidelines according to the Indian Standard Provisions for Time Period of Curing of Concrete :
Ordinary Portland Cement - 7 Days
OPC + Admixtures - 10 Days
OPC ( In Dry and Hot Area ) - 10 Days
OPC + Admixtures ( In Dry and Hot Area ) - 14 Days
